Planned before we start

Hard floors wear in lanes. The entry, the corridor outside the restrooms and the path to the front desk go dull and yellow long before the corners do.
We strip the old finish from VCT and other resilient floors, scrub and rinse the bare surface, then lay new coats with drying time between each. A high-speed burnish afterward brings up the gloss.
Most floor jobs run in the evening or across a weekend, so the floor has time to cure before your doors open again.

Step by step
01
We check wear, buildup and where the traffic lanes run.
02
Furniture moved and the old finish taken down to bare floor.
03
Fresh finish applied in thin coats with drying time between.
04
A high-speed burnish now, and between strips later.
Not every dull floor needs a full strip. A burnish brings back gloss on finish that’s still intact. A scrub and recoat refreshes a floor worn in the lanes but not yet yellowed. A full strip is for finish that has discolored, built up at the edges or worn through.
We tell you which one your floor needs at the walkthrough. Our guide on reading a worn floor covers the signs in more detail.
Agency corridors near the Capitol, classroom wings, church fellowship halls, clinic hallways and retail sales floors all run on resilient floors that wear in lanes. Each has a natural window: evenings for offices and clinics, breaks for schools, weekdays between services for churches, after close for stores.
Winter is hard on these floors. Snowmelt and grit from the roads and walks get tracked inside, and the first few yards past every entry lose their finish fastest. Planning a strip in spring and burnishing through the winter keeps the whole floor looking even.
A few useful answers
Most busy floors need it once or twice a year, with burnishing in between to hold the shine.
Yes. A Friday evening start gives the new finish all weekend to cure.
VCT and other resilient hard floors in offices, schools, clinics, churches and stores.
Once the last coat has cured. That’s why floor jobs are booked for evenings and weekends, with cure time inside the schedule.
Yes. Summer and holiday breaks are the usual windows, and we plan the rooms so everything is cured before people return.
We settle it at the walkthrough. Either your team clears the room, or our crew moves the furniture and puts it back once the finish has cured.
A strip removes every layer of finish down to bare floor. A scrub and recoat cleans only the top layer and adds fresh coats over it.
